How AhaMind measures, prescribes, and adapts

A plain-language tour of the engines behind the app

Brain age, in seven blocks

Your official brain age comes from a seven-block checkup: reading a clock, encoding and later recalling words, matching symbols to digits, connecting numbers (Trail A), alternating numbers and letters (Trail B), and remembering spatial positions. Each block is timed and scored, then compared with norms for your own age group before being turned into a single number.

A three-minute scan of three real games gives you an estimate on day one. Finish the full checkup within a couple of days and the estimate becomes official. A monthly calibration keeps the number honest as you improve.

The daily prescription

Every day, the prescription engine picks three rounds across your five cognitive domains: logic, memory, attention, mental maths, and strategy. It weights domains where your mastery has slipped and rotates game types so practice never turns into rote repetition. Difficulty rides just above your current level through an adaptive controller, the same family of techniques used in computerized adaptive testing.

Every tap, modeled

Reaction times are fitted to an ex-Gaussian distribution, the standard model in response-time research that separates a typical speed from occasional slow outliers. Tracking those slow-tail components lets AhaMind notice fatigue or genuine improvement long before a simple average would.

Where the line is

AhaMind is a training and education product. Brain age and test scores are motivation and progress signals, not diagnoses. If a number ever concerns you, take it to a professional, not to a harder difficulty level.
